How we started
TimeclockDeals was released in 2002 after the dot-com bubble as one of the first ecommerce stores for employee time clocks. Back then, the most in demand products were mechanical time clocks such as the Lathem 4000 series, and the newly released Windows software called Lathem Payclock EZ. All of which have been replaced due to technology.
The vanishing dealer network
Time clocks used to be sold through authorized dealers, not directly by manufacturers. Dealers would cover regional markets, offer in-person sales visits, and offer support maintenance plans to their customers. TimeclockDeals offered a "new" approach by offering an ecommerce website along with sales advice by phone...
Then came Amazon
Whatever you view of Amazon, you can't deny their success. Their consistent goal is to offer customers any product you can imagine, at lower prices, with free shipping, and easy returns. So it makes sense they would sell time clocks too. With Amazon you get all the above, but without old fashioned personal service.
Technology never sleeps
Technology has changed things for sure. The old mechanical time clocks have been replaced by dot-matrix, Windows software has been replaced by the cloud, and prices have come down significantly for a standalone time clock.
Whether AI will be a factor in time and attendance remains to be seen.
The latest trends
Demand for cheap biometric time clocks is increasing. As of this writing you can purchase a foreign made fingerprint time clock from $20 on up.
Demand for time card printing machines may be slowing, but it depends on the item cost. As of this writing you can purchase a foreign made time card printing machine from $75 on up.
Demand for no monthly fees is steady. Many of the clocks sold are marketed as having no monthly fees. Further, a few of the biometric time clocks mentioned above also come with free cloud software.
